Solana Beach Skate Park

VDLA is currently acting as prime consultant on the design development, construction / bid documents and construction administration for a new skate park at the existing La Colonia Park.  The scope fulfills a portion of the overall adopted master plan created by VDLA with extensive community outreach for this 3.79 acre park and community center in the historic Eden Gardens neighborhood.  The scope for this phase includes a skate park, a ‘mini’ full basketball court to emulate ‘The Cage’ in New York, an entry plaza with seating, a donor wall and monument wall featuring tiles screened with skateboard deck designs, a raised spectator area, and a new accessible entry ramp into the park. VDLA has worked closely with skate designer Site Design Group, the City and the community to produce a design that appeals to all ages and levels of experience, while retaining as much of the existing turf play field as possible.
