VDLA provided planting design, irrigation design, hardscape and garden design elements for a reading garden for this 15,000 square foot library that is part of the City of San Diego 21st Century Library System Facility Improvements Program. The drought tolerant landscape was designed to be durable, matching the craftsman styling of the building, and provide a natural filtration method for storm water runoff. An intimate reading garden with a ‘green wall’ and potted plants were incorporated on the library’s interior for visitors to enjoy. The project was the recipient of a Design Build Institute Award.
