Alpine Library

Location

Alpine, CA

Key Features

• LEED Gold
• Net Zero Energy
• Outdoor Stage

VDLA served as the landscape architectural consultant for the design of a 13,500 sq ft. branch library for the County of San Diego, benefiting the Alpine community. This design build project was led by CW Driver and EPBA. Manuel Oncina and the architectural team successfully designed the first County-owned net-zero energy facility. The Alpine Library has achieved LEED Gold Certification through the USGBC and Net Zero Energy Certification via the Living Future Institute. The library is integrated with a neighboring park, the Alpine Community Center, and an existing Veteran’s Wall of Honor. VDLA worked with a certified arborist to preserve existing mature oak trees on the site, including one that provides a shaded canopy over an elevated outdoor deck for library patrons. Additionally, the library features an outdoor stage facing the park, further serving the local community.
