Hyatt Regency San Diego Bay
Location
San Diego, CA
Key Features
• Hardscape Design
• Planting Design
• Irrigation Design
• Collaborative Lighting Design
VDLA provided site design for hardscape, planting, irrigation, interior planting design and collaborated on site lighting design. A major goal in site planning was to encourage public access to the existing bay from the Embarcadero via subtle public walkways. A Magnolia tree alleé connects to a festive waterfront courtyard which contains restaurants and specialty shops. Graceful Kentia palms flank the courtyard, while flowering trees adorn two outdoor restaurant terraces. The hotel entry court creates a strong base for the 39-story tower. A palm grove in a “raised triangular wedge” at Harbor Drive acts as an entry feature for the hotel and contributes a sculptural landscape element to the Harbor Drive streetscape.
