San Elijo Hills Fountain Square

In cooperation with the San Elijo Hills Board of Directors, VDLA developed a renovation plan for the fountain square located in the center of the community. This central square is the location of community block parties, events, and the annual tree lighting ceremony. VDLA was able to salvage, divide, and repurpose the existing mature Bird of Paradise plants, which border the square. New shade tolerant landscape was implemented around the fountain trellis in combination with full color-changing smart LED landscape lights that can be programmed remotely for any special occasion. The irrigation system was retrofitted with the latest water saving technology, and dark brown stone was used over traditional bark mulch for its increased durability and water conserving properties.
