VDLA provided site planning, hardscape design, and final construction documents for planting and irrigation. The design features a naturalistic swale that works with site drainage patterns and serves as a bioswale for water quality. The swale culminates in a shallow basin area at the entry plaza that features a riparian theme, a steel pedestrian bridge, and large scale trees for shade. The existing mature trees on the site were preserved into the completed design. Native and drought resistant adaptive plantings were primarily used throughout the site, with only temporary irrigation needed. The integration of accessibility considerations within the site design aligned with the campus master plan. Project approval was processed under the Division of the State Architect (DSA).
