C/Park Sorrento Valley

VDLA worked on the exterior renovation of an existing office park in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego. The goal of this renovation was to create a more attractive and usable outdoor area for employees to enjoy our Southern California climate during their breaks and lunchtime. The project began with an unattractive concrete fire lane that bisected the parking lot and offered no pedestrian access or circulation. A design was developed to remove the concrete, create a connection between the buildings and preserve existing trees. Design amenities include parking for an on-site lunch truck, shaded trellis structure, a raised deck, comfortable/movable furnishings and laptop/cell phone charging stations. Permeable paving materials replaced the original concrete to encourage storm water infiltration and promote the growth of new and existing trees. A new electrical system throughout allows for soft ambient up lighting for night events, security lighting and electric vehicle charging stations.
