
Landscape/Irrigation Inspector
Under the general supervision of firm management, the Landscape / Irrigation Inspector will conduct on-site inspections of landscape and irrigation projects under construction. The inspector will review work performed by contractors for compliance with approved plans, details, specifications, applicable City, County, and Water District standards, and maintenance agreements.
Location: Riverside & San Diego Counties
Salary Range:
$72,000 - $76,000 depending on experience

Requirements:

Valid California Driver's License
-
Reliable vehicle suitable for travel to job sites. Mileage is reimbursed at the applicable IRS rate.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

Perform on-site inspections of landscape and irrigation construction and maintenance work.

Verify conformance with approved construction documents, specifications, and applicable agency standards.

Observe and document deficiencies, and provide clear field direction to contractors to resolve non-compliant items.

Prepare and issue written Field Memorandum Forms to document field direction and inspection findings.

Coordinate with firm management and project team members regarding field conditions and contractor performance.

Required knowledge of:
Industry standard landscape construction and maintenance procedures for irrigation and plant material, with an emphasis on:

Tree and plant identification.
-
Irrigation design principles, system installation, operation, and maintenance.
-
Proper tree and shrub pruning methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
-
Landscape grading, hardscape, drainage, walls, and fencing.
-
Safe work practices.
-
Effective public relations and professional communication skills.

Ability to:

Read and interpret landscape and irrigation plans, details, and specifications.

Identify plants, trees, and shrubs and verify conformance with plans and specifications.

Prepare clear and comprehensive verbal and written reports.

Use a computer to operate basic office, maintenance, and software programs.

Perform basic mathematical calculations related to construction and quantities.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Receive and apply training related to field inspection procedures and standards.

Exercise good judgment within the scope of assigned authority.
