Borrego Springs Library Concept Development

VDLA served as landscape architect on a design-build proposal led by CW Driver for a County Library and Desert Park in Borrego Springs, CA. The 16-acre proposed park site is a vacant parcel that experiences seasonal desert wash flooding. Our design works with natural drainage patterns, and creates naturalistic drainage washes and water catchment basins to efficiently address the seasonal flooding. The proposed park program included many diverse amenities, including nature trails, an astronomy viewing area, meditation gardens, picnic facilities, sport courts and fitness areas, a dog park, children’s play areas, a mini amphitheater, a Sheriff sub-station and a caretaker residence area.
