Over 40 Years Of Experience

VDLA has served private and public sector clients in Southern California for over 40 years.  Our portfolio includes site assessments, master plans and construction documents for a wide range of municipal, federal, institutional, corporate and other public and private projects. We have designed landscapes and pedestrian spaces for master planned residential communities, Homeowners Associations, multi-family homes, corporate office and campus environments, schools, libraries, churches, public plazas, park and recreation projects, open space and habitat restoration, medical facilities, and national cemetery facilities for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Our services include design from master planning and concepts to schematics, construction documentation and construction administration of projects.  Additionally, we provide related consulting services such as plan checking, technical writing, site inspections and irrigation water audits.

A Comprehensive Design Approach

Our approach includes taking a pro-active role with other design disciplines in order to create well-integrated, attractive site designs. Storm water management, circulation, hardscape, amenities, and preserving unique site features are a few of the basics considered in this approach.  We envision projects from the initial concepts to the built end product, taking into account current materials and labor costs, maintenance practices, and life cycle costs.

Water Conservation

Designing and working with landscapes in today’s climate requires a thorough awareness of water conservation needs and methods.  Our expertise in water-conserving landscape and irrigation design incorporates horticultural science and artistic skill, resulting in beautiful, sustainable and maintainable landscapes.  We successfully design climate-adaptive and native landscapes, including natural revegetation methods to re-create natural landscapes that require minimal maintenance and no supplemental irrigation.

VDLA’s water-wise design services also include overall irrigation master planning, including existing system analysis, recycled water planning and conversion from potable irrigation systems, and reduction of potable water meters. We also prepare Turf Reduction Master Plans, and assist with turf reduction or irrigation equipment rebates from water districts.
